Finding a Doctor in Lanzarote

English-speaking doctors, walk-in clinics and medical centres across Lanzarote — pick your resort to see what's nearest.

How medical care works in Lanzarote

Public vs private. Spain's public health system is for residents with a Spanish health card (tarjeta sanitaria). As a tourist, your practical option is a private clinic — they operate walk-in, staff speak English, and a GP consultation typically costs €60–120. Your travel insurance should cover this; keep all receipts.

GHIC and EHIC. Your UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or European EHIC is accepted at the public hospital A&E (Urgencias) in Arrecife for medically necessary treatment. It does not cover private clinics like EuroKlinik or Clínica Dr. Mager — those bill directly, and you claim back on travel insurance.

English-speaking doctors. EuroKlinik (+34 669 064 145, three locations, 24/7) and Clínica Dr. Mager / Lanzamedic are set up for English and German-speaking patients across Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca. British Surgery of Lanzarote (Puerto del Carmen) specialises in English-speaking patients.

Prescriptions. Spanish doctors issue Spanish prescriptions, which any Lanzarote pharmacy (farmacia) will fill. They cannot issue UK prescriptions. If you need to continue medication from home, contact your GP remotely.

Urgent vs emergency. Non-life-threatening but urgent? Call a private clinic or walk in. True emergency — chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe injury — dial 112. Ambulance, hospital and EuroKlinik's 24/7 line are all coordinated through 112.
